Scientists discover deadly secret of Komodo's bite

There has always been the perception that it is the bacteria that is deadly inside of a komodo dragon's mouth, but scientists now have made a breakthrough that reveals that a snake-like venom is present in the world's largest reptiles.

Zoos scramble to make adjustments to the labels of their Komodo exhibits! (Along with the Gila Monster & Beaded Lizard ones too. :P)

Wow, interesting. I thought it would be more than bacteria in their saliva.

This apparently goes for all monitor lizards as well. Look up the clade toxicofera sometime. The new research suggests that monitors, iguanas, and ALL snakes are venomous, just in varying amounts.
