Kowloon Park: 22 May 2025
Kowloon Park is a small city park in Hong Kong, with a free-to-visit aviary area. It is easily reached by metro, the Tsim Sha Tsui station being situated at the corner of the park. There is a flamingo lake and a group of seven aviaries.
Bird Lake:
An attractive lake with pinioned birds. There is a walkway across one end, with the flamingos on the larger side and the other smaller side empty (it looks like it used to house waterfowl). Lots of wild Black-crowned Night Herons here as well.
Greater Flamingo Phoenicopterus roseus (at least a hundred birds - I couldn't count them accurately because many were spread behind vegetation)
Lesser Flamingo Phoeniconaias minor (only three birds)
Coscoroba Swan Coscoroba coscoroba (only one bird)
Aviary:
The aviary section is really nice, with the individual aviaries arranged in a circular fashion with the shelters in the centre, and the whole surrounded by a visitor walkway set back from the aviaries themselves. The aviaries are reasonably large and well-planted. The list below is arranged by order of the aviaries if moving in an anti-clockwise direction.
On a recent species list (12 March 2025) @Toki also has Great Argus Argusianus argus [in with the African Grey Parrots as per the photos of the signage in the gallery] but this bird was no longer signed and was not present on my visit.

Hybrid Macaw (signed as Green-winged Macaw Ara chloropterus - the photo on the sign has the hybrid bird and an actual Green-winged Macaw together, but I did not see the Green-winged Macaw in the aviary at all. I visited the park on two days, and the only macaws seen in the aviary were the three Blue and Gold Macaws and the hybrid macaw. There is a photo of the sign here by @Toki : Signs - ZooChat)
