Nice article. I must ashamedly admit that I think that I actually ate meat from a leather back turtle some years ago. Like many people, I probably assumed there were many of them and that they would be around forever. I think that there are still many people with that attitude about many species (eg tuna).
 
Thanks for the kind words. Tuna is a good example...seems most people are less aware of the problems facing them, esp. the Bluefins. Carl Safina wrote a great book that highlights their plight, and that of others..forget exact title..Cry or call for the Blue Ocean; another on turtles, great reads. best, frank
