Ah yes. Traditional Asian medicine. In Australia we pander to the large Chinese community, and Australia's largest university even offers a degree (or should I say 'degree'?) in traditional Chinese medicine! I toured their facilities a few years ago, but I was not well-read enough on the subject to have asked the questions that I now would to the Head of Department: do you folks use tiger body parts and bear bile etc? (Their website does say "RMIT Chinese medicine does not use products derived from the illegal trade of endangered plants and animals.") It's a running joke that the university is not prestigious enough to offer a proper medical degree, so they had to resort to traditional Chinese medicine. It's also worth noting that at the time I did the tour in 2009, the HoD said that the majority of students were white Australians (to which I cheekily added "who couldn't get into medical school?")
