Based on the 2023 list provided by @birdsandbats there are 146 species at the zoo, not including a handful of domestics. Lincoln Park's website states that the facility is "home to nearly 200 unique species", but yet again that's a typical exaggeration unless there's a large group of animals behind the scenes.

It's amazing at how many sections of Lincoln Park Zoo have donor names attached to the exhibits, and also how the zoo has done an admirable job with a lot less species than they had decades ago. It's also worth noting that this zoo has mainly stuck with a taxonomic layout.

Waterfowl Lagoon
- 2 species

Camel & Zebra - 7 species

Regenstein Center for African Apes - 2 species

Helen Brach Primate House - 9 species

Pepper Family Wildlife Center - 4 species

Regenstein Macaque Forest - 1 species

Regenstein Birds of Prey - 4 species

McCormick Bird House - 43 species

Regenstein African Journey - 21 species (plus cichlids)

Walter Family Arctic Tundra - 1 species

Kovler Seal Pool - 2 species

Pritzker Family Children's Zoo - 8 species

Regenstein Small Mammal-Reptile House - 37 species

McCormick Swan Pond - 5 species

TOTAL SPECIES - 146 species

(55% of the zoo's species are located in two buildings: Bird House and Reptile House)

It doesn't seem far-fetched, in my opinion, for the zoo to have a large number of species behind-the-scenes. Most zoos have an animal ambassador program using animals that are typically housed in behind-the-scenes areas. I don't have any numbers for Lincoln Park, but the similar-sized Roger Williams Park Zoo has over 25 ambassador species, so I wouldn't be surprised if Lincoln Park's number is similar.
