CHATTANOOGA ZOO: 10-6-18
This is an attempt to list every species on exhibit at the Chattanooga Zoo in Chattanooga, Tennessee during my visit on 10-6-18. I am including species for which there is a sign on each exhibit, and using the named zones on the map going in a roughly clockwise direction from the zoo entrance. This list may be of more interest to those already familiar with the zoo since I am not arranging the species by animal type. I will post each zone separately for clarity.


GOMBE FOREST: (17 Exhibits)
This small exhibit complex is grouped around a building that visitors can enter.

Small-sized low-fenced yard:

CORCOVADO JUNGLE: (14 Exhibits)
An outdoor cluster of exhibits leads to a small building that visitors can enter to view smaller exhibits.

LA SELVA AMAZONICA: (6 Exhibits)
This is the newest exhibit building of the zoo and adjoins the South American-themed Corcavado Jungle.

DESERTS & FORESTS: (33 Exhibits)
Twin octagonal buildings that visitors enter are joined by a single outdoor yard between the two.

Several years ago this zoo announced that they were going to build giraffe and lion exhibits. Was there any visible sign that this is still planned to happen?

This complex is a cluster of North American animals.

Medium-sized covered cage:

2 small-sized fenced cages with front glass viewing panels, containing 1 species each:
American crow
Great Horned Owl

Large-sized fenced yard, with unique train caboose viewing building with glass windows on one side:
Cougar

Small-sized rocky-walled yard:
Black-tailed Prairie Dog

Large-sized fenced yard with pond:
Muscovy Duck, Pekin Duck, Red Ear Slider, River Cooter, and White-tailed Deer

Large-sized fenced yard with rocky wall with viewing windows:
Coyote
 
WARNER PARK RANCH: (6 Exhibits)
This is the zoo's domestic animal area.

Small-sized coop in barn:
Domestic Chicken (free-ranging during day)

Medium-sized fenced petting yard:

Dromedary Camel (were out in separate area called 'Camel Encounters' for rides)

HIMALAYAN PASSAGE: (10 Exhibits)
This mildly themed Asian exhibit complex is centered on a small viewing building.

By my count, the total number of exhibits currently at the Chattanooga Zoo is: 93

By my count, the total number of species in permanent exhibits with identification signs is: 94
The number of species I counted can be broken down into the following categories:

Invertebrates: 6

No evidence of either while I was there! If there were signs for it I missed it, which would be easy to do given the extensive Halloween party decorations plastered all over the facility.
