It’s a really cool zoo for anyone in the area. Massive walkthrough aviary for herons and a pretty big deer / wild turkey enclosure are the highlights. All of it is woven into a natural coastal forest habitat. The sculpture garden is also pretty cool, even as someone with no real eye for art. The area is also one of the better places to a vacation in the state if you’re looking for something other than the traditional tourist trap.

Exciting to hear about the red wolf plans. The zoo’s only current ABC species are their alligators (and bald eagles if they count) so this is a really promising development for them.

Well to be fair their otters are another ABC species.

Glad to see this zoo finally getting some love on here. It's super small, of course, but it's a real favorite of mine. Their two walkthrough aviaries in particular are superb.

Everywhere seems to be getting red wolves lately, and for good reason, obviously.

The zoo keeps Spanish goats, for the record.

I really ought to get around to posting a species list from my last visit a couple months ago, but maybe at this point I’ll just wait until my next post-red wolves visit.
