I really like endemic animals, especially animals in a island such Madagascar or Borneo. There is few zoos in Java and Bali that kept lemurs and other Madagascar animals.

The ring-tailed lemur are the most commonly kept lemur species in Indonesia, zoos that I know that kept this species are Taman Safari Bogor, Bali Zoo, and Batu Secret Zoo.

Taman Safari also kept a Black-and-white ruffed lemurs, houses together with ring-tailed lemurs and eastern grey kangaroo.

Batu Secret Zoo has the most Madagascar animals. There is a exhibit called Lemur Kingdom. In this exhibit there is ring-tailed lemurs, Black-and-white ruffed lemurs, common brown lemurs, collared brown lemurs, red ruffed lemurs, and black lemurs. Batu Secret Zoo is the second zoo in Asia, the first is the zoo in Japan, to kept the black lemurs.

Batu Secret Zoo also kept fossa, I haven't really seen the fossa during visit to this zoo. But I can found one media showing this fossa, It's on Facebook (Just search Fossa batu secret zoo in Google).

Other Madagascar animals in this zoo that I can remember are Madagascar tree boa, Malagasy ground boa, and Giant day gecko.

There is also several Madagascar animals in Indonesian pet trade, such as the Madagascar hissing cockroach and radiated tortoise.

Feel free to add the animals you know that I didn't mentioned in Indonesian zoos here!

Kind of suprised by how many Malagasy mammals are kept in Indonesian zoos.

But then again has always been a strong connection between Madagascar and Indonesia right ?

I mean the ancestors of most of the Malagasy people were originally from Indonesia.

On the Gembira Loka Zoo's website, the Malagasy rainbow frog (Scaphiophryne gottlebei) and Madagascar tomato frog (Dyscophus antongilii) are two of the amphibian species that the zoo kept. Not sure if they still kept this two species.

Jakarta Aquarium used to kept a red form golden mantella (Mantella aurantiaca), the species are replaced with three poison dart frog species, which is not a really bad replacement animals.

Panther chameleon (Furcifer pardalis) are the most commonly keep chameleon species in Indonesia, Jakarta Aquarium used to keep this species. I think Batu Secret Zoo still keep this species.

Not a zoo related, but someone keep many radiated tortoise (Astrochelys radiata) and angonoka tortoise (Astrochelys yniphora) illegaly back in the past.

I used to see someone selling a Radiated Tortoise on a pet expo back in 2007

There are some cichlid seller in Indonesia that sell this cichlids, Dunia Air Tawar also sometimes get their animals from donation or they bought it from some sellers. So my guess they got this cichlids from some cichlid seller.
I really would like to know more about this unknown - traded - source of Paretroplus menarambo and how these entered the Indonesian wildlife market(s)?!!!
