A photo by bigfoot410 made at the Bronx Zoo ( http://www.zoochat.com/547/magellanic-penguin-young-465213/ ) made me think about the captivy situation of this species. I remember having it seen at Beekse Bergen many years ago but could't think of other places where I could have seen this species.
Zootierliste learned me that at the moment it is kept at only 9 (!) European collections and none can be found in for example the Netherlands, Belgium or France.
Also the list of former keepers of the species is relative short ! Because the species is still not threatened ( listed as being Near Threatened by the IUCN ) I was wondering if the species is more common in other regions ( North America ( at least the Bronx has them
), Asia, South America ).
Any help is appriciated !
