Major animals not in your zoo's collection

London is lacking:
- Elephants
- rhinos
- nile hippos
- bears
- canines
- pinnipeds
- chimps
- orangs

all of which they've previously held

There are African wild dogs on the Cotton terraces.

Toronto Zoo is also missing anteater, african wild dog and giant panda

we also don't have to many bear species (polar and grizzly), would be nice if we had black bear or some type of asian species (sloth, sun or asiatic)

Belfast is missing Rhinos, Hippos, Orangutans, leopards, Jaguars, Polar bears and most recently Tigers.
I'd love to see these species in Belfast in the future.

Tigers of some description will be back soon, now Lilly the lion has gone to the Czech Republic freeing up the enclosure! Not sure what sub-species or where from as its still up in the air with a number of possibilies

Oh thats great then, if it's not a subspecies of Tiger then I'm eager to see what will occupy it.

Newquay zoo, while still being a thriving and sucessful zoo lack the following:

Orangutan, chimp, bonobo, gorilla, (not even a gibbon) wolves, dholes, african wild dog (no dog species at all) Giraffe, elephant, hippos, rhinos,
Polar bear, asiatic black bear, sun bear, brown bear, american black bear, giant panda, spectacled bear. Tiger, leopards, jaguars, puma (which they held previously) cheetah, snow leopard. crocodile, alligator (or even a caiman) no pinnipeds either.

so basically everthing other than lions and lynx. :D

Just goes to show that done "right", with imagination and good planning a zoo can be a success without the ABC's! In my opinion Newquay is one of the best "small" zoos in the UK (and, obviously, a personal favourite).

lets be honest about this, this zoo collection has nothing to do with imaginative planning or imagination, sitting on 13 acres there is no room for any of the larger species:p;)

Fair point, but not every small zoo can pull it off. I'm sure we can all think of some that don't and bigger zoos with no imagination and uninteresting collections -I could mention some but I don't want to snipe ;)

For Bristol Zoo it is easier to list the large animals they DO still have; Gorillas, Okapis, Lions & Pygmy Hippos are about it nowadays.
