Marapana wildlife park

does anyone remember Marapana?
I visited in 2009 when visiting from the uk, family in Perth
I remember they had Several Australian animals including wombat, koalas and Dingoes if I remember correctly
Will never forget the Wombat viewing I was lucky enough to see, the enclosure was just surrounded by a low wall was able to see the Wombat so well
I did read on here that it’s closed now unfortunately

Yeah I went there in 2001. Theres a video floating around online of the last proprietor of the park (quite a young fella) being bitten on the leg by one of their two Freshwater Crocodiles (Rocky and Balboa) from about 2009/2010. Pretty sure the park opened in late 1981 (firstly called Marapana Deer Park) and closed down in May 2011. The last owner keeps/trains greyhounds now and runs a mobile wildlife service to schools and birthday parties I think with his wife.

Thanks have happy memories of my visit there was with family also the only time that I’ve seen a wombat shame it’s closed now
We also visited Perth zoo as well , I remember it was excellent

2009 would have been a great year to visit Perth Zoo. They’d recently restarted their orangutan breeding programme with infants born 2005 and 2007; the Sumatran tiger gave birth to triplets in 2008, making for a busy exhibit; while also in 2008, they’d welcomed the first Malayan sun bear born in Australia.
