March Mammal Madness

Has anyone heard of March Mammal Madness. It's a simulated animal tournament that takes place during March used to educate people about animals and the natural world. Basically, players have to predict the winners before the results are announced with lots of upsets happening.

Yesterday, the bracket dropped and I was wondering if anyone else was participating.

Ooh! Yes, I'm a big fan of the concept of MMM. I'll admit I've fallen behind on it since the pandemic (are they still using twitter for the announcements....?) but the core conceit is always entertaining and it feels like they come up with a more interesting roster every year.

I also appreciate that they're using it as an educational tool! Apparently ~1% of US schools are participating in this and they have whole learning guides that accompany it, and this is the kind of thing that gets kids into nature.

Just browsing, I feel that the buffalo has the advantage, but my heart is with the narwhal.

My prediction for the winner is the Polar bear with the Puma being a runner up but using a trained AI (that has correctly predicted other matches in previous brackets), the statistically most likely winner is the Wild Yak with the Sun Bear as a runner up
