May I ask which zoo owns these Asian elephants?

Hi @Little orca, interesting snap! not one i recognise.

how did this photo come to your attention? is it definitely a zoo?

Could it be wild elephants...

The walls and alley in background don't appear like an enclosure to my mind?

Is that supposed to be a pool? if so it doesn't seem to have any obvious access or egress options?

If it were an enclosure perhaps the grass around the base of the tree in the background would have been eaten away?

very odd enclosure if it is one....

It is an Asian elephant, so South Africa is unlikely and to me it very much looks like an elephant enclosure.

I am not 100% sure, but I would say this is Maxi the now deceased elephant bull with a calf in the backstage enclosure of Zoo Zurich. It fits with the tusks and the pool shape is also very similar, as is the colouring of the walls:

I just Googled Maxi - he had some interesting tusks!

This page has a photo of the same pool at Zurich (in fact, probably from the same set of photos as the one in this thread's opening post):

Ok I feel the need to repeat that I have cataracts and can’t really see thumbnail images. :D

It's a screenshot from a video of Maxi and his daughter Ruwani at Zurich Zoo. It was recorded by a security cam in the backstage area, hence the quality of the image and the odd looking enclosure. Here's the full video:
