On zootierliste I see that several European zoos now have Australian Brush-Turkeys. As several of this group of birds are critically endangered I was wondering if they had any success with breeding this species. Apparently Australian Brush-Turkeys are becoming something of a nuisance in Brisbane and Sydney now, and I was wondering if any are in walk-through exhibits and if so how they behave.

Australian brush-turkeys are quite rare at the moment and only few collections have bred them ( Burger's Arnhem, Basel, Avifauna - Alphen a/d Rijn ). I myself took care for the species at Walsrode and we found regulary eggs of them, didn't hatch any however during the time I was taking care of them.
Other Megapodes I've taken care for were Maleo at Walsrode and the Misool Wattled brush-turkey at both Walsrode and Pairi Daiza and in 1996 - the year I left this park, we were succesfull in breeding them.
