I don´t even now if I can admit it ... I´ve lived in Ireland for over 3 years, reading animal-related news, visiting zoos and animal-related events and I have never heard of the Monkey Sanctuary in Wicklow until now! And it´s not even 1 hour drive from my house!

Anyway, I found the website today The Monkey Sanctuary , looks interesting. Has anybody here been there? Is it open for public?

they are not open to the public:

Too bad, I would love to visit this place... Maybe I could think of some monkey-related assignment for my studies and use it as an excuse to get in... ;)

I note they have a Sooty Mangabey. I wonder if its got anything to do with those ex ZSL group which went to Penscynor in Wales, until it closed, after which their whereabouts have become a mystery.

I heard that Newquay Zoo sent their Sooty Mangabeys to this place! So it could be them.

Oh, yes, think you are right.;) It would be one of Ramrod(m) or Ginger(f) in that case. I think those two went to Newquay from Tenby, which in turn is quite close to the closed Penscynor, but it still doesn't unravel the mystery of the ex ZSL group's disappearance.
