Morro Bay Aquarium (Closed) Morro Bay Aquarium News

This is potentially good news. The Morro Bay Aquarium is a true dump and roadside aquarium in its current form.

They have sea lions in enclosures the size of bathroom. I'm not sure how they are able to comply with the Marine Mammal Act with these horrible spaces: http://i.ytimg.com/vi/Rsp_Q3cuyF8/maxresdefault.jpg

The interior is a true relic from the 1960s. Most of the inhabitants are donated fish in clunky tanks in a large dank room.

Hopefully the non-profit can find some way to bring this place into the 21st century, or at the very least, the late 20th.

My goodness. Those sea lion "exhibits" (or pens with water) look absolutely terrible and those aquariums don't resemble anything that I'd call an aquarium, clunky is right! Hopefully when it gets purchased renovations will begin right away. I can't stand to think of that poor sea lion in that absolutely depressing exhibit.
