ZSL London Zoo My recent visit

Do not despair! I am sure this time round London Zoo will take apt advice and not rely on a quick fix solution. I find their attitude fair and clear in goal.

K.B. I don't despair about this. Like you I would prefer a longer wait and the correct choice made, than a 'quick fix' and a non-breeder male installed.

This idea of a male from America is a good one.:) Increasingly all the (breeding) genetic lines in Europe are being swamped. Even Apenheul ended up getting their new male 'Jambo' from the well-represented Krefeld line, because he was available, needed to leave his natal group and was suitable in other respects. Chessington's new male Damisi, also comes from another heavily represented line(Matz x Rebecca at Frankfurt, he is a brother of your Akili at Artis and Richard at Prague.) because he was available and suitable in other respects.

This is because virtually all the less- represented males left in Europe have 'problem' backgrounds and I would not like to see one of them brought in. A transfer from America could indeed be the solution but are we getting too far into the realms of speculation here?

Good to hear the Gaboon Viper now has it's own vivarium. Whilst being an interesting mix, it just wasnt a large enough enclosure for three fairly large snakes.
