My oh my did I never expect this! A change in Ocean Park! It's not the theme park rides, obviously because this is ZooChat. Only this time, an exhibit changed, but not the animal roster. If any of you are HK Zoochatters, then you most likely know about Sloth and Friends Studio, the newest addition to Ocean Park. Its basically a new exhibit that incorporates AI animal things (I don't really know) with sloths! Yes, Ocean Park made an exhibit dedicated to sloths, which are already seen in the park's rainforest section. This exhibit not only has sloths, but also ball pythons and sometimes will display macaws and kinkajous, animals already found in the aforementioned rainforest section. When I first saw the exhibit, I was quite disappointed. They replaced rarer koalas with sloths. The last animal addition featured the ABC meerkats but did also introduce giant tortoises, a first for the island region. Now, I don't know what happened to the koalas, but there is a high chance that the newly added wallabies from my old fashioned local zoo could be from Ocean Park. The kookaburras in the exhibit could also be from Ocean Park's old koala habitat. It's quite bland to see an ABC animal replaced and readded from rarer animals. I also don't really get the AI art thing and why they decided to combine it with sloths but that's just me. Its possible my perspective on the exhibit will change when I visit it, as I'm going as part of a staycation. I also see the pros of the exhibit. For one, the exhibits look good, which is because its the former koala habitat. They gave the sloths quite a bit of space, which makes it one of the best sloth exhibits I've seen. The ball python is nice, and they even have animal presentations which makes me hooked. Plus, there are a number of rare animals still in Ocean Park, like pandas, giant salamanders, golden monkeys, walruses, manta rays etc. So while the depature of the koalas and the previous departures, the Chinese sturgeons has made me quite dissapointed, it seems that Ocean Park is building great homes for previous and maybe one day, newer animal species.
