That is a really low species count, especially mammals. I thought the zoo was bigger than that.

I know they are not on public view but they do have I think about 12 giant anteaters.
 
I know the zoo is fairly new. That doesn't change how I perceived it, or that it has a low mammal count. There's zoos half that age with more.

I originally felt the same way, I've gone I believe four times and I found it's still as fulfilling as any other zoo that offers more. If they stick to their current master plan as is, which... zoos never entirely do, Nashville might one day be on par with Henry Doorly.

I have a few photos I haven't gone through IDs for yet; lorikeet fans can count themselves lucky I even did that much :p @ThylacineAlive uploaded photos with IDs into the gallery and I can confirm I saw at least some of them.

While that might be how the zoo groups them together, that all seems like a pretty nonsensical arrangement to me. For one, "Jungle Loop" is not an actual loop unless you include several other areas with it. The flamingos are over in a completely different area from those other 3 exhibits. Almost none of the Jungle Loop animals live in jungles. Meanwhile, the three exhibits claimed as part of Bamboo Trail are in the same section as Bamboo Trail, but the actual bamboo doesn't start until after the spider monkeys.

They have quite a few species they don't display to the public, except in the nursery when offspring are born. Per my own species list standards I didn't include any of them here.

According to an older map, the Jungle Loop refers to that entire left part of the zoo. From the cassowary to the tapir.

Just like the lorikeets, Africa, farm, and vet center, are all part of the Savannah Loop.

I kinda wish that they had just 1 single species in both bathrooms. It's kinda annoying for species-list hunters when one species is restricted to one gender, and it would be nice if they just displayed one or both species on each side.

Both of these are now gone. The curassow aviary is currently empty while the old magpie jay aviary now holds maleo and blue-bellied roller.

This lineup has changed a bit. The current inhabitants are: African pygmy goose, Baltimore oriole, black-spotted barbet, blue-necked tanager, blue-crowned mot-mot, Bruce’s green pigeon, green woodhoopoe, spangled cotinga, paradise tanager, purple-throated fruitcrow, red-capped cardinal, sunbittern, white-faced whistling duck, Line’s two-toed sloth.

The Maleo and Red-footed Tortoise have been there for a while; I think they were both off display temporarily during my visit (maybe because it was November). Shame that those other two birds aren't still there too, though.

Ah, I see where they are now. Totally missed that pond, but I imagine they’re still present.

This reminded me of one other thing. There are a variety of unsigned koi in a small pond close to the clouded leopard and red panda exhibits. Additionally there’s an open-topped tank being constructed close to the jungle gym that will also house some large fish.
