BBC - Science & Nature - Natural World

The series opener was a fantastic program on Titus the silverback mountain gorilla and at one stage his impressive 25 strong group.

This weeks promises to be a good episode about monkeys.

The Monkey episode last night, was fantastic esp. when they got onto Baboons.

We're coming to the end of the 2008-09 series now, and I'm delighted that it's been up to the usual high standards. Some fascinating subjects so far: the ecology of cork forests, whale shark migration routes, primate intelligence, gharial and cassowary conservation, the prospect of elephant culls in Botswana and interbreeding of polar and grizzly bears have all been covered.

However, my favourite programme of the series was last Friday's "A Farm for the Future" which looked at the implications of peak oil on modern farming methods. Such an important subject but very little public debate at the moment. Some interesting solutions too.

This week's programme is "Iron Curtain, Ribbon of Life" which looks at the wildlife living in the strip of no-man's land which formerly divided Western and Eastern Europe.
