Slimbridge WWT New developments at Slimbridge

Castle Espie is listed as Comber. Their birds are usually listed in the group section.

WWT used to list all their stock as one collection as mentioned by Zoogiraffe. I saw a report several years ago and the heading was something like WWT considers the birds to be one collection spread over 6 centres.

What about cavelerock (or something like that)

Is that not listed?

That explains why i missed didn`t think of looking at that section.

Slimbridge flamingos recounted

All six. I have just checked on ISIS - and their figures don't match my visual counts (surprise, surprise ). Personally, I believe my own eyes, with the reservations I have mentioned already, but here are the ISIS numbers.

Lesser 25
Andean 28
James 3
Caribbean 95
Greater 203
Chilean 15

If you want to visit any WWT centre, try to do so before the end of March - before most of the wild birds leave and the drakes start to moult out of their breeding plumage.

I revisited Slimbridge today, as the weather was much milder the flamingos were outside (mainly). The numbers above seem to be correct, except for the Chileans, which are in a much bigger flock.
I must admit that I was mistaken about the James. The labels in the house say Lesser and James, but the ones outside on the pen say Greater as well. Last time all the birds were in the house, mostly on one leg with their heads tucked in, so I assumed that the young Greaters were James :o Sorry! Photos to follow, if they are any good.
