Following on from Okaikpr's thread in the US section, I thought i'd post an equivalent thread for the UK.

Exhibts that I know of:
Chester Zoo - walk through african aviary
Chester Zoo - hornbill aviary
Chester Zoo - butterfly house
London Zoo - Children's Zoo
Colchester Zoo - Orang Utan forest (completion of total exhibit)
Marwell Zoo - an african plains exhibit

Newquay zoo - African plains exhibit and Philippines exhibit
Cotswold wildlife park - New rhino house and start on giraffe exhibit
Twycross zoo - start on new entrance complex featuring an aviary and snow leopard exhibit?
Highland wildlife park - new Amur leopard exhibit
Dudley zoo - new chimpanzee exhibit

Longleat - Animal Adventure, featuring a new parrot show area.
Cotswold Wildlife Park - New Peccary Enclosure.

Dudley zoo - new chimpanzee exhibit

Does anyone know if this is still a joint venture for both Chimps and Orangutans, or only the chimps, and does it still involve renovation of the old Big cat/polar bear enclosures?

I have been told the Hornbill Aviary has been dropped from the plan, they may keep a pair of the Tockus genus in one of the aviarys inside the walk-through Aviary, but not build the one meant for the Ground Hornbills.

Real shame, I was looking forward to this development

That's a shame about the Ground Hornbills. Quite a few new developments i see, really exited about what Newquay have ins stores with the philippine enclosure.

There's also
Welsh Mountain Zoo - The Reptile House, we were in this exact same situation this time last year though so we'll see how much development is made in 2009.

Cotswold peccaries - there were 17 in the group a couple of weeks ago . The paddock was very muddy . The new paddock is in front of the wolf wood , much of the fencing has been completed but no sign of a house yet .

I believe they started with 1.2 , I wonder if all the young are offspring of the original 2 females or whether the younger animals have started breeding with their father/brothers/sisters .

Edinburgh - Giant Pandas (TBC!)
Paignton - Baboon exhibit
Noah's Ark - Lion and Tiger exhibits

Paignton - Baboon exhibit

Doesn't it say on the paignton thread that baboon rock will open in 2010 (or 2011, can't remember off the top of my head)

And I assume the pandas will be 2010 at least due to construction time. I can't really see them opening talks in 2008 and then recieving the pandas in 1 year...

The baboons are supposedly 2011 and on the edinburgh zoo website it stated that the pandas were arriving in 2009 although i also found this hard to belive.

There were 13 evident in June this year, so 4 more since. They did start with 1.2. and I was amazed to see how large the group as grown. Can't answer the 2nd part though.

weren't there rumours of hyena's included in that exhibit?
Indeed there was but not sure if this is going ahead for 2009 with the building of the new Entrance,Shop,Catering and Snow Leopard enclosure,Twycross had enough problems trying to complete the Bornea Long House Aviarys on time(whoops sorry that was at least 6 months late) so cannot see them have any chance of managing to do 2 major projects on-time.
