Dierenpark Amersfoort - new chimpansee exhibit
Pairi Diaza - Santuary a huge tropical hall and Golden snub-nosed monkeys

The new chimpanzee exhibit of Amersfoort is already opened! A huge improvement to their previous one!

There’s a few in terms of big cats in the UK due to open in 2025 with Big Cat Sanctuary’s new lion complex with the lions they’ve rehomed from Ukraine. I believe Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm are due to open their new ‘Project Carnivora’ as well later this year. Phase one is the extension of their current lion enclosure whilst phase two is the development of a new tiger exhibit.

Artis will be transforming their baboon rock into a red panda and ASCO home
The small reptile park Serpo will likely open in the Netherlands (finally)
Gaiazoo will receive Yellow footed rock wallabies and build an exhibit for them
Ecomare will house Seals in the former harbour porpoise exhibit
Hof Van Eckberghe will open a South America exhibit with Tamanduas etc.
Blijdorp's bat cave will be renovated and house Francois Langurs and lorids and the zoo will build a new elephant exhibit
I think the Artis Aquarium might be finished in 2025 but not sure
A new harbour Porpoise exhibit in Hoenderdaell will be built
The kelp forest in the Oceanium will be transformed into a north sea exhibit
Antwerp zoo will house Pygmy hippo's in their former Hippo exhibit
The yellow footed rock exhibit in Krefeld Zoo, across the Dutch border will likely be completed
A voliere for african vultures will be built in Avifauna
the Kerberrterrace in Artis will be connected by tunnels to the Lemur exhibit to give the Lemurs more space
Amazonica in Blijdorp will likely be fixed and reopen to the public
new gorilla exhibit in Apenheul?
This is (almost) everything for the Netherlands and Flanders i think, don't know about other regions though..

They already removed the old foil and just need to place new one at the moment, I think that is possible in a year:p
Not really. On the inside, almost everything has been removed. They expect to repair the roof within the foreseeable future and are now working out ideas to give it an African jungle theme.

Is there any news about the "new" amur leopard enclosure in Ouwehands Dierenpark Rhenen? The last message was that they would start after Koalia.

They are also working on a new indoor enclosure for the sunbears.

Was there news ? Years ago enclosures for leopards and snowleopards were planned on the spot where the new Gorilla enclosure was ultimately built (place of the old cat enclosures)

Amur leopards were announced in 2023. They were supposed to come to the zoo in the second half of 2023. This was later postponed. Early this year, it was said that they will start work on a new enclosure for Amur leopards only after Koalia is finished. That's the last I heard about it.

Although not officially confirmed by the zoo, according to regular visitors, the new enclosure would be built on the site of the current reindeer enclosure.

Not that much new for Austria. Most likely the projects that should already have been finished at the last year will open, including the new terrarium at Schönbrunn/Vienna, the new reptile zoo at Haus der Natur/Salzburg and new lemur houses at Zoo Schmiding.

Other news:
  • Reopening fo the renovated tropical house at Zoo Vienna
  • The small tropical house at Zoo Salzburg should reopen too this year
  • New venomous snake terrariums at Haus des Meeres/Vienna
  • New wild boar exhibit at Alpenzoo Innsbruck (as expansion of the current one)

Artis will be transforming their Macaque* rock into a red panda and Asco island

Ecomare will house Seals in the former harbour porpoise exhibit

Technically, the old Harbour porpoise exhibit already housed Seals, but they're now adding a beach and a dune area to make it better suited for the seals

A new harbour Porpoise exhibit in Hoenderdaell will be built

Along with a seal habitat and a small North/Wadden Sea aquarium

A voliere for african vultures will be built in Avifauna

When I visited in 2023 they mentioned it would be finished in 2022 (which clearly didn't happen), then in early 2024 they mentioned they had started construction. I wasn't able to make my yearly visit this in 2024, but isn't it already finished? To be honest, I haven't heard any news about it since the announcement...

new gorilla exhibit in Apenheul?

No chance. As Menno mentioned, Apenheul's new gorilla valley is planned for 2028, and Blijdorp's Amazonica most likely will also take that long, since they usually only do one project at a time, and can take quite a while with said projects...

Last update is from early December, see here. Seems to me it will open about next spring.

A few more UK-based ones I have thought of:
  • A new hippo house at Longleat Safari Park (if the plans are approved).
  • A new large aquarium, so far with theme unidentified, replacing the Amazon freshwater tank at The Deep.
  • The new tropical butterfly house at The Bug Parc, the first animal development since the park first opened.
  • Wild Asia at Call of the Wild Zoo, due to house binturongs, clouded leopards and a species of Asian otter at least.
