Hey guys

New guy here from New Zealand pretty excited to have found this site. Im a zookeeper from a small and young zoo here in New Zealand and just stumbled upon this site earlier today. Pretty stoked as I feel like alot can be learned here.

Welcome to ZooChat! It will be great to have you here. I'm also from New Zealand, what small zoo did/do you work at if you don't mind me asking?

We keep
- a range of butterflies
- general petting zoo and farm animals ( arapawa sheep and kune kune pigs being the 'stand out' breeds)
- rainbow lorikeets
- cotton top tamarins
- american alligators
- estuarine crocodiles
- rose tarantula and zebra legged tarantula
- wetapunga
- leopard gecko
- bluetongue
- water dragon
- inland bearded dragon
- tammar wallaby
- bourkes parakeets
- turquoisine parrots
- eclectus
- african grey
- blue and gold macaw
- sulphur crested cockatoo
- himalayan monal pheasant

A few others I probably missed off the top of my head ... We are getting kiwi and tuatara early next year at some pount with the completion of our kiwi house.

I just read on another thread that you keep cotton top tamarins and kea, which sounds like a very interesting Zoo animal combination.

Also just read that you keep saltwater crocodiles and American alligators. Is it true that the saltwater crocodiles you keep are the only ones in NZ?
