New Jaguar Exhibit

Houston is opening a renovated Jaguar exhibit this weekend. It may be time for another trip down there.

It's only a matter of time now until they renovate the puma exhibit next to it in the exact same fashion. Zoo definitely likes the mesh more than the super thick glass that is around the pumas.

Maybe with the remodeling I can now equate in my head the jaguar exhibit as a jaguar exhibit rather than being the former snow leopard exhibit.

I'd also like to see Houston redo their tiger exhibit next to the pumas in some way. It just feels flat and small by comparison, especially to Dallas and the amazing one at Fort Worth.

Oh, I think we might disagree on this one. Next time you're there take a close look at how much space the tigers actually have. Surprisingly small. Most of it is cut off by stands of hotwire. The incessant waterfall I'm sure deafens the tigers (not to mention the guests) as well. For me, the best part of the exhibit is the area in between the two tiger areas. That's not saying much.
