Amazon World Zoo Park New lemur walk through

Why is a place that is supposed to focus on south american wildlife have a lemur walkthrough? it makes no sense, particularly as they could of done a walkthrough with south american monkeys

It looks some what similar to Drusilla's new walkthrough, I agree with the comment the area could do with some more planting and even more structures for the animals.

I think they have put this in to attract visitors the attraction with a ""up close experience" and currently lemurs are very popular with kids, as are meerkats. In a tough financial time like this a small zoo will put in anything that will up their number of visitors. Though it is true they could have used South American animals, but I guess its whatever attracts visitors.

Out of interest, where in the outside area is this? Is it where the hawk walk used to be?

Amazon World have never solely focused on south american rainforest species. They have always held greater flamingo and a number of touracos, and from the start held a small group of ruffed lemurs, burmese brown tortoises, leopard cats and indian fruit bats. A few years in and they aquired fennec foxes (which died in a fire, but were replaced), and meerkats. Not to mention the Black-footed penguins.

The educational message might be about rainforest conservation, but they have never exclusively exhibited South American or indeed rainforest species.
