Welcome from one Dave to another.

Joining the site purely to promote your own site is frowned upon here, by the way - as such I have removed the hyperlink from your post, and deleted your thread about the website. It's a bit more accepted if the person posting the link is an established member - so get involved and be part of the community. If people want to know more about your website they can still follow the link in your profile.

Hi Dave and glad to make your acquaintance. While i totally agree with your view i do feel that i posted the link in the correct section. Im under the impression that the section called "Websites about Zoos & Animal Conservation" is to let people know about them. Just because i own site surely doesn't mean i cannot let people know that its about it.

I understand that i should have made myself known first and what im about and whats the site about before jumping in with that post, i also understand why you have removed it, its fine with me.
Anyway we can debate this till the cows come home.
I consider my wrists slapped and will learn from this.

I am here to interact and get to know new people from within the same fields.
PS i accidentally double posted in the NEW MEMBERS can you remove one please.
Thanks.
Dave

There is a rule about not posting hyperlinks. You didn't know. (I'm not sure how a new member would!)
It is not a "big deal."

Welcome to ZooChat! We are all glad to have you aboard.

Thanks for the clarification
There seems to be no sticky for New Members. How does one learn the rules?
I've just made it into a sticky. I think Sim may have just forgotten to do that at the time. When he first created the thread it was placed as a notice across the top of each page (where the photos normally sit) and I think it was there for a month or so, in order that all the current members would see it. As for new members, I'm pretty sure the rule is contained within the agreement they consent to when becoming a member.

HI all,
Ok i have read the info on the link above and that helps somewhat. I do have one question please that i would like answering and please dont think im trying to be tricky.

I understand the point about me posting a link back to the front page of my own site, but as you can see from my site its very up to date with a lot of the latest news.

Some of it, i feel your community will find interesting.
I have news articles from several well respected conservation scientists as well as groups and organisations like:

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
American Museum of Natural History
Mongaby
WWF Madagascar and Western Indian Ocean
Amphibian Survival Alliance
Wildlife Preservation Canada
California Academy of Sciences
Amphibian Ark-Saving Endangered Amphibians from Extinction
Amphibian Conservation Needs Assessments
CREA

Are you saying that i will be banned for posting any articles they release for my site ?
If you are thats fine as i just need clarification so i dont ruffle any feathers.

My site is non profit and the little ads dont even cover the cost of me running the site and if it were to make anything above the running cost i would simply donate it to a wildlife charity.

Thanks for your time and thanks for the replies above by the way.
Dave.

Cannot speak for the moderators, but the ZooMoments crew simply posts "We have a new story on wombat shoe choices on our website" (or whatever) and interested ZooChatters can then go find it. I believe it is about the self-promoting hyperlink more than calling members' attention to your news.
