My partner and I were just talking about how there hasn't been any major Rainforest exhibits opened in any US zoos in quite some time. We think Buffalo Zoo might have been one of the most recent back in 2008. Anyone have any ideas of some more recent ones or planned ones?

Amazonia at Mesker Park, Amazon and Beyond at Miami, Kansas City Zoo tropical house (renovation) all come to mind.

Mesker Park = 2008
Buffalo = 2008
Miami = 2008
Kansas City = 2009 (renovation)
Los Angeles = 2014 (Rainforest of the Americas)

The years of 1992/93 saw the debut of 4 rainforest complexes that for the most part have stood the test of time for two full decades. Omaha, Cleveland and Woodland Park all added rainforest areas in 1992, with Denver adding its Tropical Discovery pavilion in 1993.

The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo's Rainforest is its greatest accomplishment and its our favorite exhibit.Given the fact that these are not exactly commonplace in zoos its a real bonus to have one.
