Turtle Back Zoo New Sea Lion Exhibit Set For 2013

The zoo's 50th anniversary in 2013 will result in the zoo's largest complex to date, as $5.5 million is being spent on a sea lion/stingray pair of exhibits. The link includes the plans for the new habitats:

One can now add Turtle Back Zoo to Fresno Chaffee, Blank Park, Saint Louis, Tulsa, National Zoo, Utah's Hogle Zoo and Edmonton's Valley Zoo to make it 8 new pinniped exhibits opening in North American zoos within the next year. Trend or coincidence?

@snowleopard: do you have any New Jersey zoos on your roadtrip itinerary? I know there is something called the Cape May Zoo as well as the Turtle Back Zoo which is AZA accredited. To my knowledge nobody has posted any New Jersey Zoo reviews here yet. Have you thought about maybe visiting the Staten Island Zoo also?

I would suggest visiting the Cape May Zoo it has a very large collection in basic to excellent enclousures plus it has a huge savanah.

To my knowledge nobody has posted any New Jersey Zoo reviews here yet. Have you thought about maybe visiting the Staten Island Zoo also?

I began a thread about Cape May Zoo recently and no one responded, and literally over 50% of the zoos/aquariums that I intend to tour this summer have little to zero information about them on ZooChat. I feel like an intrepid explorer venturing into new worlds! The New Jersey zoos are in the back of my mind but as of right now are not on the itinerary, and we need more North American ZooChatters to go on mega road trips like me. The Europeans on this forum are far more enthusiastic when it involves travelling to see zoos.

I understand the desire for completeness, but I guess if I were traveling all that way I'd revisit a few of the "tried and true" and skip some of the pretty pedestrian places on the list. But you do have a system, so go forth and review!

I understand the desire for completeness, but I guess if I were traveling all that way I'd revisit a few of the "tried and true" and skip some of the pretty pedestrian places on the list. But you do have a system, so go forth and review!

This and I also prefer much more balance on my trips.

I will try to go to the Cape May Zoo this year, though.
