Comprehensive new webpage developed by NZ's Department of Conservation, Te Papa (National Museum) and the Ornithological Society of NZ, which features information (including descriptions, distribution maps, conservation status, photos, etc) of all 457 NZ bird species, as well as sound recordings of many species.
Looks like it will be a great resource for identifying NZ birds, especially trickier ones like shearwaters and petrels, as you can input where in the country you saw the species, and which habitat type (e.g. forest, wetland, urban), which reduces the number of possible species to search through.
