So I have read about nocturnal zoos in Singapore, Thailand, and China. Are there any like that in the US?
You need to have a warm climate all year to make something like this viable; probably combined with short travel distances and low crime rates. Singapore is perfect for an exercise like this. Not sure there are many other places in the world that could pull it off.
As a lover of small carnivores I would love to have something like this in the UK. I remember once, when I was a volunteer (docent ) at London leaving the Zoo after an open evening past the owl aviaries at about 9 o'clock at night. It was marvellous to see how active the birds were.
Sadly, the climate here just wouldn't make it viable.
Hawaii would be a great place for a nocturnal zoo but from what I understand Hawaii is very strict about what animals are allowed into the state.
Thats exactly what I heard, I actually heard that they wont even let Honolulu Zoo have snakes in there reptile house
I am not aware of any zoos that are open in the night on a normal basis, even some of the zoos mentioned above are not doing it any longer. Some have special events or nights they are open, of course. There are some aquariums that stay open until 9PM.I was just looking for this! Anyone know if there are any zoos open during the night or 24 hours?
