non sustaining populations

Many animals in zoos are breeding well and have the amount of births to sustain there poupulation. But there are other species who do not breed as well in zoos and need more births to occur otherwise the size of the pouplation will fall. These include many poupular animals such as both kinds of elephants and polar bears.
- There are 86 polar bears (40 males, 42 females and 4 unknowns) but there were only 2 born in the past 12 months.
- There are 121 asian elephants in north america (28 males, 91 females and 2 unknown) but only 2 were born in the last 12 months.
-What are other animal species like this?

-Indian rhinos only have 54 animals in the SSP population. And I know that one was born in July.

-Sumatran rhinos only have 2.1 animals (1.1 were born to to the breeding male, the female died)

-African elephants seem to be doing better than Asian, but both species should stay constant at 250 and have nine births per year
-Sloth bear
-Sun bear
-pygmy hippo
-Beluga whale
-orca whale
-pacific white sided dolphin
-Walrus
-Giant otter
-Clouded leopard
-Harpy eagle
-Giant panda

I think most species seen in zoos today are unsustainable....

There is growing concern that a good deal of bird species, other than parrots and some raptors, are not a self-sustaining population. This is especially true of insectivorous passerines, especially the smaller species
