Yes, most were sent to sanctuaries in the early 2000's, besides that last cow who was eventually sent to PAWS in 2007. Most of the elephants went to TES.

I meant the Africans. The ones that were with Tyke. I know most of the Asians went to TES and PAWS except the last one African. I forgot her name.

@ZCChip from what I gathered Landry was a private trainer but not strictly circus.

Are you referring to the other Africans Campbell owned or one's that would have been with Tyke in Honolulu?

The database only lists two other Africans who were sent to other sanctuaries in the mid 90’s.

the ones at Honolulu. I was under impression that Campbell was just hired as a trainer and not an owner? This was in the 1990s though.

Campbell I need was just a trainer not the owner. The elephants were their apart of a large circus corp, I can’t remember the name off the top of my head though.

I am thinking we all have conflicting information! :)

It does seem so. :D

Campbell did own at least 4 elephants (Jackson, Mac, Savanah and Moja) but they were in Denver at the time of the Honolulu incident. I'm not aware of any other elephants besides Tyke in Honolulu. Ironically, it was going to be the last time Tyke was going to be on the road, because of her behavior, and was going to be retired after the Hawaii trip

Now I know where they are. Jackson is the breeding bull I knew that he was with Allen but wasn’t sure about the others. Mac is in Florida and the cows went with Jackson to Pennsylvania. One of them now is in oregon.

then who was the elephants with Tyke? When you watch the video of Allen unloading elephants in Hawaii you can see there are more than one Africans.

If tyke was indeed retired before Honolulu, the catalyst for captive elephants would have been different. The rampage set the A/R folks on fire.

I think that was just past footage that was used. Tyke was the only elephant that was sent over to Hawaii.

Many of the trainers actually didn’t want her to go as her behaviour was of course getting much more unpredictable and she was becoming more temperamental. It’s a shame she was the one chosen - there were many other elephants to chose from.

Do you have a link to the elephant unload?

I will have to look for it. I did watch the documentary on Tyke but you had to pay for it once and only so long to watch it. It might have been there. It showed elephants in a trailer and Allen was removing the barriers. But it’s a while ago now. The guy (not Allen) was Tyke’s caretaker for a long time and said Tyke seemed to be a sensitive elephant or something of that sort.

if she was indeed the only elephant gone to Hawaii, she was probably chosen because she wouldn’t be compatible to work in a group act? That’s my guess. Only a few elephants wouldn’t work in a group.

Yes I’ve seen snippets from that. The trainer was the one who didn’t want her to go to Hawaii.

The footage used apart of the documentary was old footage, not from the actual move to Hawaii.

Here’s a video off YouTube with some scenes:

Yes!!! That’s the documentary I saw in whole! You can see two elephants in the trailer. The documentary made it sound that they are in Hawaii. The guy in the trailer with them was Allen Campbell.

the second guy was the primary care taker. The first woman was Cuneo’s trainer. I don’t remember who the first guy was.

This is extremely unexpected but very exciting news! Renee is 43 years old and last had a calf in 2011 so chances were not very high that she would conceive again but looks like she did! Fingers crossed all goes well and she gives birth to a healthy female calf. It’ll be interesting to see who the sire is, I really hope it’s not Jackson again and is a more valuable bull.
