The Oasys Parque in Tabernas has started changing from a general public theme park more into a conservation oriented facility. Due to its proximity to Almeria it has adopted all male or reproductive groups of dorcas gazelle, Mhorr dama gazelle and Cuvier's gazelle.

There is talk in the AIZA Annual Reports of a Masterplan and a first thematic area in Namibia. Slowly, it has started introducing wild animal species from the corresponding region.

Quite recently the introduced some white rhino? Has anyone any idea from where these came? They also are accomodating giraffe males and the plans are to breed Rothschildt's eventually.

Be nice if one of our Iberian forumsters can provide an update!
 
White rhinos: AFAIK, male Heinz is from Hodenhagen, female Iris from Arnhem.
 
Male Rothschild's giraffe Jimiyu joined a lone giraffe male at the park.
Plans are to accomodate a larger bulls only group later in the year.

The rhino situation is correct for now. Be welcome if they would introduce further females. It would fit in with their Namibia theme.
 
Has anyone visited this collection in the last couple of years? I recently found out, via ZIMS, that they apparently hold Blanford's Fox (Vulpes cana) and Rüppell's Sand Fox (V. rueppellii) - though Zootierliste doesn't mention these species in their listing.

They have both species. Sand fox being signed and blanford's being unsigned. Both are mixed in an enclosure opposite African hunting dogs
