Officials moving animals out of Las Vegas zoo

The whole zoo has been shut down now, and agree that it was an embarrassment to the modern zoo world that this guy ran a zoo.

I think the real problem was the fact that he alledgedly didn't listen to his staff and vets. and when things become awkward that is who you have to rely upon.I wish my local authority would give me such sums of money to start a zoo!!!

Money for a zoo ironically has always been a problem for Las Vegas. The city doesn't want to invest in a public run zoo so the sad menagerie that was the Las Vegas Zoo that just closed was what they ended up with. Several people have proposed plans for zoos, most recently Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo, but nothing has ever come of it.

The city has a good AZA accredited aquarium, Shark Reef, and a terrific natural history museum-park called the Las Vegas Springs Preserve that has a mini-zoo with bats, desert reptiles, grey fox, kangaroo rats, and invertebrates so it is not completely bereft of quality animal attractions.
