Ok, so no actual news or anything, but the zoo is turning 36 later this year, and have put a series of old photos up on facebook, some are pretty cool, and show some species no longer in NZ, e.g. camels, wolves, etc.

Even awesomer, they also have an album with several old maps of the park, from the 70s and early 80s.

that's pretty cool, brings back memories. The last map there (late 70s to early 80s) is how I think of the park still (!) because that's how it was when I first was visiting. Then they started putting in all the paddocks (off the top of the map) and all the animals gradually moved up there and left the original end looking almost deserted.
