Oryx in the UK

Hello,

I am in the process of completing a project evaluating Oryx in the UK over the last 25 years. I have been using zootierliste.de and some threads here, aswell as animal audits from zoos such as Marwell & Whipsnade, however this is still a limited source of information.

If anyone has any information regarding current and past holdings, any audits (or other records) from zoos that currently or previous kept Oryx, numbers of any of the 4 species kept in the UK or any information on numbers in current collections (mainly Scimiar Horned) I would be very appreciative.

Any information, no matter how small!

Whipsnade has, I believe, 5 Scimitar Horned Oryx at present, all female (last stocklist said 6 but only 5 have been visible for quite some time now).

I believe Chessington probably have two Scimitar Horned Oryx. Difficult to say definitely without enquiring as currently only visible on the Zufari truck ride. They were /are i think the last two young females born at Chessington. Think adults moved on and they were looking to bring a male in but difficult to arrange with the regulations/restrictions.
