Panda 'gassed' in Chinese Zoo

I wish they would not repeatedly refer- as in this article- to Giant Pandas having a 'low sex drive' - its a myth, they haven't!
Anyone who doubts that should read George Schaller's Book on the Panda, his observations of wild Pandas showed how several males keenly congregated around an in-season female to vie for mating rights. Schaller also told the Chinese a male Panda had a higher sex drive than he did! And Desmond Morris' description of the mating attempts between the ill-fated An-An and ChiChi show just how persistant AnAn was in his mating attempts, despite the humanised ChiChi's rejection of him.
In captiviy I think its more a problem of lack of stimulus created by 'pair' situations with no rivalry involved, or having handraised animals without normal mating ability.
