Edinburgh Zoo Pandamonium to hit Edinburgh! #2

Thanks for the link. No sign of the panda but it's definitely not a photo lol. The trees are moving (how exciting)!

Well, i have to say, i have just lost 45 mins of my day watching Yuang Guan in his outdoor enclosure on the zoo's webcam, climbing trees and rocks, running round, even in his pool, a star is born.
Better than the awful boxing day tv!

Re the indoor areas - when we saw them, both were sound asleep, Yuang Guan lazily stretched out on his back, and Tian Tian was curled up in what can only be described as a vertical ball, with her head tucked between her legs!

I think the floors of the indoor exhibits have been raised since the Gorilla/Chimpanzee days, and the lighting is certainly much much better. There is also an off show area in both

I think the male may well have adapted more quickly to his new surroundings-using the outdoors much more, and their different sleeping postures indicate that too.

The indoors does look more at eye level than it used to- when the Gorillas were there it was more like a dingy, badly lit pit- an awful design IMO.

Somebody call health and safety...........

Thanks for sharing. :D Well, Yang Guang started redecorating his enclosure :-)

Yang Guang is not doing well (some sort of colic), he's been off show since a few days and his pandacam is down too, till he's allowed to go outside again.

According to the reports colic is not that uncommon in pandas and they think he will be fine.

Panda slime- never heard of that before....

Yeah me too. When I read the headline I thought it was some kind of medication that the keepers had given the panda but it appears to be a natural response from the panda to the colic.

Okay, with all this news the zoo has about have a panda suit and being prepared for the birth of twins I have what may seem like a stupid question.

Has the female been confirmed pregnant?

Pregnant? Who? Sweetie? No, definitely no, she might come into estrus in spring, if she will come into estrus this year ... and then mating + AI does not mean that it will result in a cub/twins. Just remember what's been going on at Washington since Tai Shan ...

It's either just spin by the Zoo or a journo who has picked up on the story (Probabloy based on the BBC Scotland documentary to be shown this week)
