Not just the Amazon is facing huge habitat destruction at the hands of the current Brasil national Govt. One of its true gems - the South American equivalent of the Okavango Delta - the Pantanal is on fire. This also puts all wildlife and wetland and other habitat here on the line. The iconic hyacinth macaw, on the road to recovery thanks to a local woman's recovery effort is also in serious danger again.

This is truly a terrible time for the environment in Brazil.

All of the major biomes of this country (Cerrado, Mata Atlantica / Atlantic rainforest, Pantanal and the Amazon) are under threat from wild fires started either intentionally or unintentionally by humans.
