The zoo obtained two young white-tailed sea eagles. They have genetic illness that impacts structure of feathers thus they are unable to fly.

paraZoo opened in 2012. It´s the smallest licensed zoo in Czechia (ca 0,1 ha) and with the weakest exhibit quality of them all. It keeps only rescued animals that were unable to be released back into wildness. It shows 30-35 species of common local birds and small mammals.

It´s owned and run by a local NGO - ČSOP Vlašim. This NGO runs a wildlife rescue station and the area of the zoo used to be their main site but because of lack of space they built a brand new station outside the town and moved. Zoo´s annual budget is 150.000 euro - 30% is covered by entrance fee, 25% by donations and the rest comes from various grants and subsidies. Its paying attendance was 20.000 in 2023. The zoo has several guest rooms within its areal that can be rented.

The zoo has nice modern souvenir shop, lecture hall, public toalets and accomodation and runs a lot of education for children groups. But its cages for animals don´t seem upgraded since my first visit 10 years ago - they are remnants of the rescue station and would need complete overhaul I would say to catch up to current minimum standards. However the animals are well cared for and staff is friendly.
