Some small news for this quite nice park :
- a new farm has been built,
- refurbishment of the polar wolves enclosure,
- arrival of 4,0 black and white ruffes lemurs. The zoo has now 6,0 animals.

This park located near Dijon in the east area of France seems to be little-known here. It's half part an amusement park and the other part a zoo. The collection is not big but some years ago the park started to extend it with large carnivores such as katanga lions and hybrid rescued tigers in large natural enclosures. Next year, the park will welcome cheetahs in a 6.000 square meters enclosure.

I had never the chance to visit but trust me, this place is quite nice and could interest most zoochatters.

Any chance someone knows the the date/place of birth of KAVANGO & MIKROULI (katanga lions) ?
 
The 1.2 American Black Bears of the Parc de l'Auxois have just been transferred in their new enclosure of 4.000 m2.
Nature et Zoo on Instagram: "Pour son 35ème anniversaire, le Parc de l'Auxois a choisi de reloger ses trois ours noirs d'Amérique. Un nouvel espace a été construit cette année et vient tout juste d'être inauguré. Le nouveau territoire s'étend sur 4000 m² et dispose également d'un tout nouveau bâtiment. Les trois ours du parc, un mâle et deux femelles, ont pris possession de leur nouvel espace il y a quelques jours et profitent des aménagements qui y ont été fait. Ils pourraient même être rejoints par de nouveaux partenaires dans les mois futurs. Prochainement, les visiteurs pourront déjeuner dans un nouveau point de restauration qui leur offrira une vue imprenable sur le nouveau territoire des ours. . . . I met Kavango when he was 2 months old, at Mervent (born 28/02/2014) ;) Mikroula comes from Athens (born 07/12/2013)

Sadly, Kavango recently died...
 
An Ocelot kitten is recently born in the Parc de l'Auxois.

Après deux jeunes nés en 2021 et en 2022, c'est la troisième fois en trois ans que le parc animalier enregistre une naissance chez cette espèce. Encore à l'abri dans le bâtiment aux côtés de sa mère, le nouveau-né pourrait faire ses premiers pas à l'extérieur au printemps prochain. In late January, 1.2 Lions (probably from the generic type) arrived in the Parc de l'Auxois.
They were initially rescued from warfare in Ukraine.
Nature et Zoo on Instagram: "À la fin du mois de janvier, trois lions sont arrivés au Parc de l'Auxois en provenance d'un refuge en Ukraine. Le lion Atlas et les deux lionnes Queen et Luladja, retirés à des propriétaires privés ukrainiens car maintenus dans de mauvaises conditions, avaient été placés en 2022 dans un refuge pour animaux situé près de Kiev. L’actuelle guerre dans le pays ne garantissant pas leur sécurité, la structure a lancé un appel à l'aide à travers l'Europe, relayé notamment par l'Association Française des Parcs Zoologiques (AFdPZ). C'est ainsi qu'après un long transfert entre les deux pays, les trois jeunes lions âgés d'environ 2 ans sont arrivés au Parc de l'Auxois en bonne santé et prennent peu à peu possession de leur nouvel environnement. Parc de l'Auxois is beginning work on a gigantic new project: an expansion of 20 hectares which will be carried out over the next 15-20 years.
The current construction site is that of a house for giraffes, with a 3 hectare plain. Subsequently rhinoceros, zebras are planned.

A major new development. The Giraffe House and plain will be ready for 2026/27! Are there any ground plans or the Masterplan for the extension (and subsequent phases for rhino, zebra and other African hoofstock?
 
Very nice plans. An extension of 20 hectares is a nice addition of animal space. I’d also like to see a ground plan of this. It looks like a great project to me.
