PC problem

I use wordpad as an .rtd file and I'm having problems. If I try to alter the contents I get an access denied message and no matter how many times I try to edit the user account to have full control I keep getting the problem. On my drive C it works perfectly, but on my portable drive D, the error occurs.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Right-click, select "Properties" and on the "General" tab, see whether "Read Only" is checked. It's also possible if you're using a backup or copy utility to move files to your portable drive, that the file is marked as "Archive".

Read Only was not checked.

I just looked at the user permissions for drive D and they were not checked, so I checked them and all the files were updated. It seems to be working now. I have no idea how they came to be unchecked in the first place, I've had the removable drive for two years and had no previous problems.
