@steveroberts
Thank you Steve for your response I really appreciate your response
I was working on the future zoo map and I was also wondering what would happen to the amphitheater part of the Elephant exhibit during the African Savannah expansion? Right now I’m guessing the African wild dogs could have an expanded exhibit or it could be used for an Animal enrichment shows.
Yeah sorry that personal messaged last response just was concerned was getting into fantasy thread 'zone'. I think truthfully the masterplan will likely mostly be for expadning exhibit habitats for species which are still at the zoo to be honest Jaiden. I think an antelope species or two if lucky and ostriches sharing with giraffes, zebras and maybe white rhinos, the exciting arrival of platypuses someday and perhaps the return of a medium sized primate species or two in the '(lesser) primates' complex expansion, and perhaps some two-toed sloths when xenartha ira is approved will largely be additional species in the masterplan. Ideas that have shared are personal 'pipe dreams' that am almost certain now wont happen.
The zoo has been down-sizing its exotic species collection for sometime to function on a more minimalist level and in turn having more space for the chosen 20-30 exotic mammal species for example as the zoo's 'ambassadors' for their wild conspecifics and other wild counterparts overseas.
To answer your question but I think Permai and Tricia's old viewing ampitheatre podium is likely the one we saw in the masterplan sketches work of 'Savannah expanison and will be a good vantage viewing point of the mixed ungulates exhibit almost certainly a place to gather for keeper animal talks and vip & educational student visitors feeding opportunities etc; so giraffes, zebras, white rhinos, antelope (unsure of species) and ostriches.
Similarly think Putra Mas's viewing shelter will become another vantage point to see the same African ungulates and perhaps another close up point for giraffes to come and be fed giving that shelter's higher elevation but that would require making the foliage garden between the edge of that shelter's viewing platform and the boundaries of Putra Mas's current yard expanded to renovated and leveled to become part of the African unguates wider exhibit space for the giraffes to reach the platform, but again this is conjecture by myself.
Will be interesting to see too what space they incorporate into the upgraded Sumatran orangutan habitat too, imagine o-lines similar to Auckland Zoo and similar to Perth Zoo's soon to be completed 'primate run' will be part of.
