Oh I didn’t know that. It would be nice to have six separate species so people know what species it is. Since they are not split yet, this is just like the situation with the West African crocodile which was used to be considered one species with Nile Crocodile. The zoo only has one elderly West African crocodile left, who is at least 58-59 years old. Many reptiles exact ages are unknown, sometimes we can estimate them. Since the zoo only has one of each which they used to have more than one, I am afraid they are going on phase-out. The term ‘’phase-out’’ is mentioned on many of the Toronto Zoos Zoochat posts on the births, deaths and transfers thread, so sometimes you will see me mention it.
