A giant bat and a tiny fox are among 12 of the world's most endangered species recently highlighted by the Wildlife Conservation Society.

The animals listed in the above article are:

  • Island Gray Fox
  • Sumatran Orangutan
  • Vaquita
  • Ploughshare Tortoise
  • Cuban Crocodile
  • Green-eyed Frog
  • Hirola
  • Florida Bonneted Bat
  • Grenada Dove
  • White-headed Langur
  • Przewalki's Horse

Nice photos, but I'd like to see the actual report when it's published. I'm surprised Javan Rhino and Northern Hairy-nosed Wombat wasn't there.
 
same thoughts here. Nice photos, but odd selection of species for something called "rarest of the rare". Is there actually supposed to be a report to go with this though, or is it just a photo line-up? On the WCS website there's nothing except the slideshow.
 
Such lists are always very subjective and the only organisation capable of making it would be the IUCN. In the end it is as well quite useless to make such a list except for lobbying or fundraising purposes.
 
Javan and Sumatran Rhino and Kakapo are just three other species which are numerically at much lower levels of population than some of the species in this list. It has to be arbitrary I think, but is also misleading.
