Tsuni, the African Elephant calf at the ICC, celebrates her first birthday today. The odd thing is that her mom, Sukiri, isn’t in any of the photos the zoo posted on their social medias. Pittsburgh has not been very clear about Sukiri and Tsuni’s bond this entire time so not sure if they're together atm or not. I hope I’m just reading too far into this and mom and calf are doing well together.

You may have since found the answer to this, but somebody asked the same question on their socials and the reply was that they’re together 24/7. Tsuni was simply given a head start on her cake, so her mother didn’t eat it all.
