Planet Zoo 2...

With JWE3 they did not release all creatures from the previous game at launch because I imagine they have to code all the family units, so they prioritised only a part of the roster, but the latest update introduced a new family unit for free which makes me hopeful that, at the very least, the rest of the animals present in previous installments will be available for free while they add other new animals through DLCs as they always did (if they release the hybrids behind a pay wall for the third time and people still buy it at this point the fault is of the audience).

They have explicitly stated that the JWE2 base game animals that are still missing from JWE3 will be added at an expected rate of one a month from January 2026 at no extra cost (and they attributed the delay to the time needed for developing the family units just as you say).

It was very much specifically base game animals and no mention was made of JWE2 DLC animals that are still missing so one has to suspect they might be in paid DLC once again if they reappear - or at least they're keeping their options open.

It would not surprise me at all if PZ2's launch roster is a similar mix of PZ1 base game and DLC animals.

Thank you for stating this, I was not aware of it, I admittedly lost all interest in the franchise since the release of the second game after spending €100+ on the first installment which looking back looks more like a demo than a complete game if compared to the latest two.

Same here, the other option I discussed was moreso to give people an idea of an alternative system which could be advocated for.

Frontier does listen when the community actually comes together and causes an uproar (see binturong design), but most people are content with an animal game, panem et circenses as they say...

A bit embarrassing but I didn't look at the roster prior to my reply and I only now realise that all of the hybrids were in the base game at launch, my mistake there.

Also after looking at Frontier's forum after a few years there was already a discussion about subspecies and duplicate animals in the sequel that I was not aware of, so I wasn't the only one thinking about this.

A few of my wishes for PZ 2

- more scenarios with storyline
- specific zoo maps like a city zoo with limited space or an island map
- more reptiles in common exhibits like pythons, anacondas, iguanas and tortoises
- create vivariums by yourself; bigger vivariums; small mammals and birds like mice, shrews, finches or tanagers
- realistic mixes
- realistic conditions for shelters
- nest-building and egg-laying birds (as well egg-laying reptiles and Platypus)
- more birds that could be housed into common exhibits like ducks, geese, crowned pigeons, pheasants, turkeys… (in addition to flying birds of course)
