[Planet Zoo]Either/or Animal choices

Southern Pudu or White-tailed Deer: all are SA deers that we don't have any in the game yet. Southern Pudu might have more unique appearance, while White-tailed Deer is more versatile since it can also be used for NA and Central American themes.
Southern pudu. It’s an easier animal to sell on its own than white-tailed deer

Chital or Nilgai: both are somewhat niche choices of South Asian hoofed animals (if I put Blackbuck or Gaur here, there would be no suspense), Chital is beautiful and fill in the gap of Indomalayan deer, Nilgai has more unique appearance
Nilgai works better if we aren’t getting a second Indian grassland ungulate.

Common Eland or Giant Eland: both are Eland species. Common Eland is far more common in captivity, while the Giant Eland has the eye-catching title of "the largest antelope"
Common.

Impala or Bontebok: both are South African antelopes
Impala. It’s more recognizable.

Black-backed Jackal or Ethiopian Wolf: both are African canids. The Jackal is kept in real-life captivity. The Ethiopian Wolf, although not kept in any real-life facilities, is surprisingly in higher demand (its Mod has 13.9 thousand downloads, compared to 9.7 thousand downloads of the Jackal)
The jackal. I am a believer of the Zoo Tycoon theory but I rather go with the realistic choice here.

Siberian Musk Deer or Tufted Deer: both are Deer-like species with large canines (male only). The Musk Deer makes the roster a little bit more diverse since it is from a new family, while the Tufted Deer is more common in captivity.

Tufted Deer.

Klipspringer or Duiker (any species): both are African small antelopes. Klipspringers can be used for mountain and desert themes, while Duikers tend more to jungle themes.
Duiker. It seems easier to implement than the klipspringer.

White Stork or Western Capercaillie: both are European birds that are not rare in captivity, White Stork has cultural significance, while Western Capercaillie can bring a new model that can be used for either Frontier or Modder to make Turkey in the future.
White stork. I consider members of the Phasianidae, sans domestic species, as aviary birds.

Cotton-top Tamarin or Emperor Tamarin: both are additional choices of Tamarin behind the Golden Lion Tamarin. Cotton-top is more favored in the frontier forum probably due to higher conservation value, but I personally prefer Emperor Tamarin due to its cute and unique mustache (this mustache takes hard work and can not be done well by the Modders). What is your preference?
Neither. As mentioned in my previous post, while small species are possible, climbers might be a challenge to implement with object clipping.

Three-banded Armadillo or Giant Armadillo: both are additional choices of Armadillo, the Three-bandeds are common in real-life facilities, the Giant only held by 2 facilities in native range (based on Zootierlistle) but is surprisingly more in demand in the Frontier forum
Three-banded armadillo. While I don’t mind the giant I prioritize realistic species before rare species.

Iberian Lynx or Bobcat: both are the second Lynx choices. Iberian Lynx has greater conservatory value, while Bobcat is used for different continental themes than Eurasian Lynx that we already have in the game
A second lynx is tough to justify but I guess I would go with bobcat.

Red-shanked Douc or Javan Lutung: both are Langur species with striking colors. The Douc is more endangered, while Lutung is more common in real-life captivity.
Hmm… aw what the heck. We already had the proboscis monkey before any reasonable asian monkus. So I will cheat the “realism”/“common” rule and go with douc.

Ringtail or Black-footed Ferret: both are NA small carnivores, Ringtail might be more interesting since it can climb, while Black-footed Ferret is one of the successful stories of captive conservation.
Black-footed ferret. A terrestrial species with a great conservation story.

Red-legged Seriema or Southern Screamer: both are additional SA birds
The screamer. As much as it pains me to see it happen I do recall seeing them clipped in open top enclosures unlike seriema.

Lowland Paca or Agouti (any species): both are forest-dwelling SA Rodents. Paca has beautiful patterns, while the Agouti is better known
Agouti. It’s more common.

Kagu or Maleo: both are Australasian flightless endangered small birds
Kagu. It a funny little guy.

Lowland Anoa or Visayan Spotted Deer: both are Southeast Asian even-toed Ungulates. Anoa might be more favored by American players b/c there is no holder of Visayan Spotted Deer under AZA. Visayan Spotted Deer can fill in the gap of Indomalayan Deer in the game.
Anoa. I like deer but I will definitely choose a bovid over deer.

ndonesian Hermit Crab or Giant Hermit Crab (exhibit): both are Crustaceans that we don't have any in the game yet.
Ocellated Lizard or European Glass Lizard (exhibit): Both are European lizards that we don't have in the game yet. Ocellated Lizard has beautiful patterns, while the European Glass Lizard is more unique since it will be the first legless lizard in the game
As previously said, I am not a big fan of choosing terrarium species because the number of species will never be satisfactory and they always tend to be the most random choice.

Ghost Bat or Honduran White Bat: both are white Bat species that are uncommon in captivity, but I think they are unique, adorable and interesting. The Ghost Bat is held in few real-life facilities, while the Honduran White is completely absent in captivity but can fill in the gap of the New World Bat
I am under the impression that the ghost bat are more likely to be active than Honduran white bats so I am team ghost.

Takahe or Kakapo: both are endemic New Zealand flightless birds. The Takahe is kept by real-life facilities (but only in New Zealand). While the Kakapo might be more well-known and has greater conservatory values, and will come up with Parrot model that may be used to create flying Parrots in the future.
I’d say neither but I guess kakapo is more iconic.

Blue Iguana or Marine Iguana (tie): My brain says blue iguana but my heart says marine iguana. Ultimately though, I think I'd be happy with either option getting included in the game.
Neither. Iguanas should never have been exhibit animals.

I wanted the Honey Badger in my decision, and those who wanted the Lion-tailed Macaque will be in the upcoming Pack!

Let have more either/or animal choices:
  • As we still don't have any small deer, I'll go for the Southern Pudu as the White-tailed Deer is very similar to the fallow deer in terms of size and niche.
  • For similar reasons, I'll pick the Nilgai, as would only be the second Asian antelope species.
  • These two species are extremely similar, but I'll choose the Common Eland, as it's more common in zoos and it honestly big enough.
  • Both are good choices, but I'll choose the Impala as it's the only member of its unique family of antelope, while the blesbok is an alcephaline, like the wildebeest.
  • While the Ethiopian wolf kind of fit into the more fantastical Zoo Tycoon 2, considering how much more grounded PZ is I'd sooner add Black-backed Jackal.
  • In this case, I'll go with the more rarely kept Siberian Musk Deer because of its uniqueness in taxonomical terms.
  • Tough choice, but I'll go with any species of Duiker, as it could really flesh out African rainforest exhibits.
  • This is another tough call, but I will say I rather have the White Stork as an aviary animal; moreso than the marabou, white storks largely depend on flight to survive. The Western Capercaillie on the other hand would add a lot of character to European sections.
  • Both of tamarin species are quintessential, but if I was forced to choose one, I'd go with the Cotton-top Tamarin due to it being more endangered.
  • I feel the three-banded armadillo's niche is pretty much taken by the environmentally flexible nine-banded armadillo. Crazy as it might seem, at least the Giant Armadillo would offer a different challenge, and could help build retro-European zoos (it has been kept at least in London back in the day)
  • Another tough challenge; as an Iberian myself, I want to say the Iberian Lynx, but ultimately, for the sake of geographic and morphological variety, I'll pick the Bobcat
  • Both these langurs are absolutely excellent choices, and I'm hard-pressed to pick one... but I'll go with the Red-shanked Douc due to the fact it's more endangered, and slowly but surely becoming more common in captivity.
  • Another hard-pressing question, as the black-footed ferret would be the only small, terrestrial mustelid. But we have even less procyonids, so I'll pick the Ringtail.
  • Hard pick, but I'll go against the grain and pick the Southern Screamer, as it's always great to feature them alongside flamingos and swans.
  • Another difficult pick, though I will choose an Agouti due to how common it is, and its smaller size can make for easier micro-exhibits.
  • As tempting as the Maleo is, we have other fowl/gamebirds in the game. But we still don't have any rallids like the Kagu, so I chose it.
  • Both of these island ungulates are quite good choices, but I'll go for the more unique Lowland Anoa.
  • I might be crazy, but I think the coconut crab would work best as a habitat animal, so I'll go with the Indonesian Hermit Crab.
  • For the sake of uniqueness, I'll go with the European Glass Lizard, though personally I think the larger, more commonly kept Sheltopusik would be a better choice.
  • As we don't have any American frugivorous microbats, which are a staple of many zoos, I'll pick the Honduran White Bat.
  • I'd rather have more common parrots in flight cages and choose the Takahe.
  • The Blue Iguana is large, exotic and endangered enough without going overboard.

Those who wanted Nilgai and Lion-tailed Macaque, your wishes have been granted as they are going to be in the Asian Animal Pack.
