Plans have been submitted to Cornwall Council to build the UK's first SeaWorld Park. It will be a smaller version of the Orlando site - with rollercoasters, rides, attractions and facilities. Animal exhibits will include
• A 7 million litre coral reef tank and another 5 million litre tank containing sharks and rays.
• Bottlenose Dolphins - Guests will be able to have paid experiences with the dolphins including photos and swimming with them. These will be the first Bottlenose Dolphins kept in the UK since the final ones left Windsor Safari Park in 1993
•King and Gentoo Penguins in a snow and ice filled indoor, climate controlled exhibit.
•Florida Manatees in a purpose built enclosure
•A specialist Marine Turtle Sanctuary caring for injured and cold stranded Turtles from around the UK and Europe. Turtles that cannot be released into the wild will have a permanent home at the SeaWorld park
Press release from Cornwall Council:
Councillor Alfred Poole;
'Cornwall Council are absolutely delighted with today's announcement that SeaWorld has chosen the county to launch the UK's first ever SeaWorld Park. Cornwall is an international tourist hotspot and we couldn't think of a better place to bring such a renowned attraction to. We look forward to working with SeaWorld on this development and the parks eventual opening'
The park will be built on current wasteland outside Newquay. It is expected to be completed in two phases - the first of which will most likely open in Spring 2030.
